If you’ve ever run into this problem, there’s a chance that you went bananas after realizing that you weren’t going to get your “nic fix” (nicotine fix) — that is, unless you happened to have a backup on hand. But for those that don’t, those who are scrambling to read this in search of an answer, I’ll get right to it.
How To Fix Your Blu E-Cig
When you draw on it, the light on the end of the battery lights up blue, but it doesn’t produce any vapor. If this is what you’re experiencing, there’s a chance that you have a faulty battery and that you need to exchange it because it’s defective, but there’s also a chance that you can fix it and here’s how.
- Detach the battery from the cartridge.
- Examine the threading inside of the battery where the cartridge screws in.
- If the threading appears to be anything other than sparkling clean, it may be dirty.
- Take a dry q-tip and use it to clean the threads, using a circulation motion to scrub.
- Remove the q-tip and examine it to determine whether or not there’s anything stuck in the threads.
- If there is something in there, clean it to the best of your ability using q-tips.
- Keep cleaning until the q-tip comes out just as white and clean as when you put it in.
- Reattach the battery to a cartridge and take a rip. If it works, you’re good. If not, you may have a problem that cannot be remedied without replacing the unit.
If you are unable to get your battery working again, there’s a chance it’s simply defective. If that’s the case, reach out to Blu, the manufacturer, to request a replacement. I’m pretty sure they’ll hook you up because these kinds of things happen not infrequently and the reality is that the batteries themselves are pretty ridiculously cheap in comparison to what they’re sold for. They’ll toss you one, I assume.
Have I Run Into This Problem?
Yes. I have personally encountered this issue. In one instance, it was the result of a bit of pocket lint and the like getting stuck in there. A quick cleaning and it was back to working. Another time, it was the result of oil cartridges (non-Blu brand cartridges filled with extract) that were leaking, which did a number on the threads. Basically impossible to clean at that point, which is why I tossed the batteries it happened to and cracked open some fresh ones. I would have considered contacting Blu to resolve the matter but it was pretty obvious to me at the time that it wasn’t their fault but mine. I was using a third-party product with their battery, things went wrong, and the battery stopped working. Who is to blame? Me. Whoever provided the oil cartridge. Whatever the case, it wasn’t Blu’s issue to deal with but my own. Based on this, I assume that there are a couple of outcomes if you run into this problem:
- You’re screwed and need a new battery.
- You can clean it and it’ll start working again.
