First Impression: Juul E-Cig

Juuling

The second I slid open the Juul’s box and saw what was inside, I wasn’t really impressed with what I saw. Sure, it looks pretty slick, but having just spent over $30 for an e-cig, I couldn’t help but wonder how this little device and its USB charging dock could constitute what I’d just paid given that I could have just as easily picked up a Blu e-cig for about half the price (not the new MyBlu, which is comparable to the Juul, but the older rechargeable model that they offer, Blu Plus).

Then I cracked open a pod…

After removing the Juul from its box and plugging in a cartridge, I was immediately impressed with the look and feel of the device, how it interacted with its cartridges, and how simple it seemed. So I took a draw. First impression? Not impressed. Perhaps the Mango flavored Juulpods (what Juul calls their e-juice cartridges). So I popped it out and popped in a Cool Mint flavored pod, inhaled, and was pleasantly surprised. Not quite as good of a mint flavor as Blu’s peppermint and spearmint infused Polar Mint, but definitely pleasant.

At first, I was under the impression that the Blu I’d been using actually delivered better vapor, but after some use, I realized that this simply wasn’t the case. Unlike with the Blu, which I’ve had to be careful about inhaling with as to not suck vape juice into my mouth *yuck*, the Juul lets you draw as hard (or soft) as you want. After toying around with it a bit over the course of a day or so, I finally got a hang of it.

Inhaling with Juul

When it comes to inhaling with the Juul, it’s a bit different from the Blu, that’s for sure. Instead of using suction in the mouth, I tend to draw from the power of my lungs, inhaling it directly into my lungs instead (DtL hits) instead of waiting for it to first pool up in my mouth a bit. While this is a bit different, I’ve found it to be just as pleasant and perhaps more fulfilling than using the Blu.

Overall Impression

After using the Juul device for the last 24 hours or so, I’m impressed. I like the way it charges (snaps right into its dock), the way it hits, and the way it works. I also like how light it is, not to mention how snazzy it looks. All in all, I’m impressed with the overall look and feel as well as the mechanics of it. It’s a nice vape. Simple, sleek, and basically everything I need it to be. Good buy. Easily worth the money.
