Blu has a new vape pen for e-liquids called MyBlu and by the look of it, it’s designed to compete with the uber-popular Juul device.
MyBlu is about the size of the Juul, but it is a bit different and definitely a little heavier at that.
Juul VS MyBlu: The Differences
Instead of a magnetic dock for a charger, it uses a standard micro USB cord that plugs into the bottom of it. Interestingly, you can actually use the new Blu vape while it’s plugged into its charger, which isn’t something that the Juul allows you to do.
While the two e-cigs use similar cartridges, the MyBlu cartridges *look* like the hold more vape juice than the Juulpods (what Juul Labs calls their cartridges). However, the Juul e-juice is about twice as strong as far as nicotine goes (2.4% versus 5%). That’s a pretty noticeable difference.
For the most part, the two vapes are similar but there might be one significant difference that’s hard to overlook: how well the two work in comparison to one another.
Which One Is Better?
This is preference here, but after using both, it’s the Juul that actually works better. The problem with the MyBlu is that it leaks. Not all the time, but frequent enough to be a turnoff. If you don’t want juice in your mouth, you might want to look at an alternative, like the Juul. The Juul also leaks, but very rarely in comparison. The MyBlu seems to do so somewhat frequently. This happens when you’re taking a puff. You start to draw and next thing you know, you’ve got e-juice in your mouth. Unpleasant, that’s for sure. But with the Juul, this doesn’t really happen, or at least when it does, it’s a bit of a surprise given that it doesn’t happen often.
There’s actually a bit of a trick to hitting the Blu, which is to say that you really want to rip it gently and carefully. If you get some good suction going, there seems to be a pretty good chance that you’ll get some juice in your mouth, which is pretty disgusting when it happens.
With the Juul, there really isn’t this issue or concern, which is why it’s a bit more pleasant to rip. But the reality is that when it comes to the vapor produced, which is largely determined by the e-juice itself and its ingredients, the Blu juice is a bit tastier and less harsh, making the vapor produced that much more satisfying. Notably, some may prefer harsher hits, which is where the Juul and its 5% nicotine e-juice comes into play. But for those that just want a smooth hit and tasty hit, the Blu is where it’s at.
The Conclusion
Juul works better, but Blu juice is smoother and tastes better. If you’re concerned with the leaking of e-juice in your mouth, the Juul is the obvious choice between the two. But if you can get beyond this area of concern, the Blu’s vapor is actually superior. The choice is yours.
Note: Not everyone I’ve spoken to about the MyBlu leaking has experienced similar issues with leaky pods. With that in mind, your MyBlu experience may differ greatly from my own. Which is to say that while mine did leak, yours may not.
