Juul might be the most popular nicotine vape in the United States at this time, but is it really better than its competitors? In this review, I’m going to compare the Blu e-cig to the Juul vape so if you’re interested in figuring out which one is better, or at least hearing what I have to say about the two, then continue reading because I’m going to clue you in on what’s what and which one is best.
For the sake of comparison, I’m using the rechargeable Blu e-cig with Blu’s Polar Mint e-juice and for the Juul, I’m vaping up a storm with their Cool Mint flavored e-juice.
Charging
They both use USB a charging medium to recharge their batteries. Personally, I like the Juul charger more because it’s easier to use. It’s a magnetic dock that you drop the Juul into, which charges it while the device is in the upright position. You drop it in, pull it out – simple as that. With the Blu charger, you actually have to screw the vape into it, which takes some time and effort. While the amount of effort and time required to screw it in and out of the charger is minimal, it’s still more than the Juul requires.
Portability
Both of these e-cigs are extremely portable. The Blu is roughly the same size and shape as an ordinary cigarette and the Juul is actually a little wider, but slightly shorter (when both have their cartridges attached). Notably, the Juul is also noticeably lighter. As far as portability is concerned, they’re about equal.
Vapor
Now this is where things get interesting. The vapor that the two vapes produce is comparable, however, the Blu clearly hits harder in my opinion, producing larger clouds and offering more of a throat hit sensation. The throat hit is likely increased by the minty flavor, which is much more pungent with Blu’s Polar Mint than Juul’s Cool Mint. Taste-wise, I definitely prefer the Polar Mint over the Cool Mint, but that’s somewhat of another matter for another comparison – one between vape juice flavors, not vapes.
Notably, the Juul e-juice is rated at 5 percent nicotine, whereas the Blu juice that I’m using is about half that at 2.4 percent. So while the Blu seems to rip harder, there’s a chance that I’m getting about just as much nicotine from a single hit regardless of which vape I’m using.
Overall, the Blu is that much more satisfying to me, but this in part due to the fact that I prefer their Polar Mint e-juice flavor to Juul’s Cool Mint.
Final Consensus
Both vapes work well, that much is fact. While the Blu hits harder, it also spits e-juice in your mouth on occasion – more often than I’d like to admit, yet I continue to use it because, like I said, it hits hard. The Juul works well, but it doesn’t produce quite as much vapor per hit as the Blu does (or maybe I’m just hitting ‘wrong’), but it has the added upside of not spitting e-juice in your mouth. Huge bonus. Who wants vape juice in their mouth? Not me. I’ll stick to the vapor. That said, I like both vapes and the reality is that I actually use both, switching between the two for whatever reason. When I want a nice hit that I can really feel, I go with the Blu. When I’m just looking for a quick puff, the Juul. With that said, I think it really depends on what you’re looking for out of your e-cig. Do you want a vape that hits hard with the risk of getting e-juice in your mouth or do you want a vape that’s a bit smoother and doesn’t get juice in your mouth. For the juice in the mouth reason alone, I think I’d have to recommend the Juul to anyone who’s trying to decide between the two.
