You can absolutely 100% vaporize extracts (concentrates) and e-liquids made by companies other than Blu using the Blu brand electronic cigarette battery, assuming it’s the 510 threaded reusable one. Here’s how you do it.
How To Vape Extracts With A Blu Brand Vape Battery
Basically, all you need is the battery and a third-party cartridge that’s designed to be user-filled. Simply fill the cartridge with the blend of your choice, be it a third-party e-liquid or concentrate such as an oil, and then attach it to the battery by screwing it into place. Next, draw on the cartridge as you normally would. Pretty simple, right?
Some Tips & Tricks
When it comes to vaping extracts though, there’s a bit of a trick. As the battery automatically turns itself on when you draw on it and automatically shuts itself off after a certain amount of time, you might not be able to achieve the clouds you’re after. But if you simply take a bit of a hit, pause, and then continue hitting, you can get much larger clouds than it’ll let you get if you just draw until it cuts you off. Trust me, I’ve tested.
Generally, I like to take an initial draw to loosen things up, especially if it’s a thicker concentrate. For the most part, the distillates don’t give me much trouble using this rudimentary setup, but with the really thick concentrates, that high viscosity stuff, it’s best to loosen things up with a little heat before really digging into it – or so I’ve found anyways.
I also tend to take DTL hits with this setup when vaping concentrates while using the pausing method to get a lung full of vapor. DTL, for those that don’t know, means Direct To Lung – a method of inhaling vapor straight to the lung instead of first capturing it in your mouth before inhaling it. While I use this method of vaping with both concentrates and e-liquids, I tend to use it much more often with concentrates than e-liquids. Personal preference I guess.
Warning: Your Battery Could Stop Working
After testing this more than a bit, I found that there is a chance that vaping concentrates with Blu batteries can cause the batteries to stop functioning properly. While there’s a reasonably good chance that this might not happen to you, if you have leaky cartridges – it might. The problem with cartridges that leak is that the residue that they leave behind gets into the threads and when the threads are the dirty, the battery can fail to establish a proper connection. This means that it may not only cease heating up cartridges and producing vapor, it might also stop registering with the USB charging dock, leaving it incapable of being recharged.
The resolution here is to either clean the threads or to buy a new battery. Obviously the first notion is preferable so long as it can be done. In some cases, I’ve found it virtually impossible to clean sticky extract from the threads, rendering the batteries useless to me. As a result, I tossed them and bought new ones. An easy way to avoid this scenario is to check to make sure that the cartridges aren’t leaking. Touch the bottom part that connects to the battery and if you feel anything sticky, you might want to reconsider because there’s a chance that the sticky residue you feel could wind up in the threads and cause your battery to stop working.
